Governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Information Technology Act, 2000. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our platform — whether you are a parent, student, tutor, or website visitor.
1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
At Tutors Parliament, trust is the foundation of every learning relationship. We are committed to handling your data with care, transparency, and respect. This Policy applies to all users of our platform and website and describes the personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we share it, and the rights you have over it.
2. Who We Are — Data Fiduciary
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Tutors Parliament, a proprietorship business operating from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, is the Data Fiduciary responsible for processing your personal data. Questions about your data, or requests to exercise your rights, can be directed to our Grievance Officer (see Section 15).

3. Information We Collect
We collect different categories of information depending on how you use the platform.
From Parents & Students
- Contact Information: Name, phone number, email, city.
- Child's Academic Profile: Class, board, subjects, learning goals.
- Communication Data: Messages with TP support or tutors via the platform.
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, device/browser information, IP address.
- Feedback & Reviews: Ratings and written reviews of tutors.
From Tutors
- Identity Documents: Government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport).
- Professional Information: Certificates, subjects, experience, location.
- Profile Data: Photograph, biography, availability, teaching modes.
- Financial Information: Bank details for facilitation fee payouts.
- Communication Logs: Platform-facilitated correspondence.
Automatically collected: Cookies, session data, analytics, and device identifiers (see Section 13).
4. Why We Collect Your Information
We process personal data only for the purposes disclosed at the time of collection:
Tutor Matching
Match parents/students with suitable tutors by class, board, subject, city, and goals.
Account Management
Create and manage your account, communicate with you, and provide support.
Tutor Verification
Verify tutor credentials and maintain platform quality.
Payments
Process facilitation fee payouts to tutors.
Safety
Investigate complaints, enforce our Terms, and protect against fraud and misconduct.
Marketing (with consent)
Send relevant updates and platform news only if you have opted in.
AI-Assisted Recommendations
Suggest tutors and improve matching quality (see Section 10).
Legal Compliance
Comply with applicable Indian laws, including tax and law-enforcement requests.
5. Consent & Communication Preferences
By submitting a tutor request, or by registering as a tutor, you consent to being contacted by Tutors Parliament via phone, SMS, WhatsApp, and email for the purposes of fulfilling your request and managing your account.
Marketing communications are sent only if you have explicitly opted in. You may opt out at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email, replying STOP to an SMS, or contacting privacy@tutorsparliament.com.
WhatsApp opt-in: If you communicate with us via WhatsApp, you consent to receiving support and service-related messages via WhatsApp. You may opt out by notifying us, and we will switch to email or phone.
7. Children's Data
Tutors Parliament serves students from KG through Class 12. A child's academic information is provided by the parent or guardian on the child's behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from individuals under 18. We process children's academic data (class, board, subject, city) solely for tutor matching — never for profiling or advertising. If we learn that a minor has submitted data without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Identity documents submitted by tutors are stored using encryption and access-controlled storage, limited to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
No security system is impenetrable. In the event of a personal data breach likely to cause harm, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by the DPDP Act. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential — please contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
9. Data Retention
- We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services.
- After account closure, tutor identity documents are deleted within 90 days, unless required for ongoing legal proceedings, disputes, or compliance.
- Financial transaction records are retained for 7 years as required under applicable tax and accounting laws.
- Communication records may be retained for up to 3 years for dispute resolution and fraud prevention.
- Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 60 additional days following deletion from active systems.
10. AI-Assisted Matching & Automated Processing
We use AI-assisted tools to improve the tutor matching process. These tools analyse the information you provide (class, board, subject, city, learning goals) and platform data (tutor availability, profile completeness, feedback scores) to suggest suitable tutors.
AI matching is a recommendation tool, not a final decision. We do not use AI to make decisions with significant legal or similarly significant effects without human review. You may request human review of your recommendations by contacting support@tutorsparliament.com.
AI-assisted recommendations support the matching process, but final tutor selection always involves human review.
11. Your Rights Under the DPDP Act 2023
As a Data Principal, you have the right to:

12. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Tutors Parliament primarily operates within India. Certain service providers (cloud hosting, analytics, communication platforms) may store or process data outside India. Where data is transferred abroad, we take reasonable steps — including contractual safeguards — to ensure protection equivalent to that required under the DPDP Act. We will update this section to reflect any specific restrictions notified by the Government of India.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by email, a prominent notice on the website, and/or in-app notification. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
